Russia’s T-72 tanks take part in military parade in Laos
Russia is supplying military equipment to Laos in accordance with the agreements reached during the visit to the country of Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu in January 2018
MOSCOW, January 20. /TASS/. Russia’s T-72 tanks and BRDM-2M amphibious armored patrol cars were featured in a parade on occasion of the 70th anniversary since the founding of the Lao People’s Armed Forces, the Russian Defense Ministry told reporters.
"The military parade on occasion of the 70th anniversary since the founding of the Lao People’s Armed Forces featured the Russian military equipment, which was put into service in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. Among the represented items were T-72 modernized tanks and BRDM-2 M armored vehicles," the statement said.

Under an agreement between the two countries’ governments, a representative office of the Russian Defense Ministry was opened Laos’ capital of Vientiane. The opening ceremony was attended by Laotian Defence Minister Lieutenant General Sengnuan Xayalat and Maj. Gen. Alexander Kshimovsky, the chief of the Main Directorate for International Military Cooperation, who heads Russia’s military delegation that is currently on a working visit to Vientiane.
Earlier, Laos handed over to Russia 30 vintage Soviet tanks T-34, which will be used in Victory Day parades across Russia, in museum expositions and also for making films about the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).
