Russian paratroopers to take part in several international drills this year
The Defence Ministry stated that about 2,000 servicemen of the Airborne Force will take part in joint international drills at home and abroad
MOSCOW, January 11. /TASS/. Russian paratroopers will take part in several international drills both in Russia and abroad this year, the Defense Ministry announced on Friday.
"In 2019, about 2,000 servicemen of the Airborne Force will take part in joint international drills on the territory of the Russian Federation and outside it. The paratroopers are planning to demonstrate their professionalism in the course of combat training measures, the ArMY-2019 International Army Games, within the framework of planned international military cooperation measures and several joint drills, such as the Interaction-2019 exercise of the CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization) Rapid Reaction Force, the Slavic Brotherhood-2019 and Defenders of Friendship-2019 tactical exercises," the ministry said.
The Airborne Force personnel will also demonstrate their skills in command and staff, specified tactical, counter-terror, peacekeeping and special drills with army units of foreign countries, Russia’s Defense Ministry said.
Overall, the Russian Airborne Force’s combat training envisages more than 50 international military cooperation measures in 2019. The basic efforts in joint drills are focused on sharpening the skills of servicemen’s operations at undisclosed ranges, in different terrain and climate settings and time zones.
