Long voyages will continue the next year, the fleet’s press service reported

MURMANSK, December 3. /TASS/. The Northern Fleet’s ships in 2018 took part in more than 30 long voyages, the fleet’s press service reported on Monday.

"The crews of surface ships, nuclear submarines and support vessels carried out more than 30 long voyages in the ended academic year," the press service cited Northern Fleet Commander Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov as saying.

One of the longest routes was the long voyage of the large anti-submarine ship Severomorsk, which started on July 5, when it left its home base, Severomorsk. It has covered about 26,000 nautical miles since then, performed a number of military-diplomatic tasks and visited the ports of Algiers, Victoria, Pemba, Antsiranana and Djibouti, as well performed anti-piracy tasks in the Gulf of Aden and Red Sea areas. It is in the Arabian Sea now.

Long voyages will continue the next year. "The number of tasks which the Northern Fleet faces shows that the upcoming academic year will be also exhausting," the press service quoted Yevmenov as saying.
