Talks with India over four frigates in final phase, says Russian defense contractor
Under the contract’s draft, two ships will be built in Russia, and another two - in India
ZHUHAI /China/, November 6. /TASS/. Talks with India over the purchase of four project 11356 frigates from Russia are in the final phase, Rostec’s International Cooperation and Regional Policies Director Viktor Kladov told the media on Tuesday.
"The talks are underway, they are in the final, advanced phase," Kladov said.
Under the contract’s draft, two ships will be built in Russia, and another two - at India’s shipyards.
Project 11356 frigates are meant for attacking enemy surface ships and submarines and repelling air attacks independently or in cooperation with other ships in a naval task force. The frigates of this type are armed with 100-millimeter artillery piece A-190, Kalibr and Shtil missiles and torpedoes. The ship with a displacement of 3,620 tonnes and having a length of 124.8 meters can carry a Ka-27 helicopter or its alternative configurations. The frigate’s full speed is 30 knots and endurance, 4,850 miles.
