Interest in S-400 soars after operation in Syria — Russia’s weapons exporter
S-400 systems provide air protection for Russian bases in Tartus and Hmeymim bases in Syria
KUBINKA, August 21. /TASS/. International interest in air defense systems S-400 grew after their participation in the operation in Syria and demand for them is significant, the CEO of Russia’s weapons exporter Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheyev, told TASS at the forum Army-2018.
"The demand is rather significant after the Syrian events. We’ll be able to see this at the Army-2018 forum. The project for India is well underway. Talks are in progress," he said.
S-400 systems provide air protection for Russian bases in Tartus and Hmeymim bases in Syria.
S-400 is a long-range air defense system capable of eliminating any means of air attack, including ballistic ones. China and Turkey have acquired them already. The signing of a contract with India is due.
