Russian military police deploys four posts on Golan heights
Russian military personnel provides all-round assistance to the United Nations mission in the demilitarized zone
QUNEITRA PROVINCE /Syria/, August 14. /TASS/. Four Russian military police posts have been placed in front of the Bravo line along the demilitarized zone on the Golan Heights and another two will be added in the near future, the deputy commander of the Russian group in Syria, Lieutenant-General Sergei Kuralenko said on Tuesday.
"Currently we are already in the process of implementing this plan - placing Russian military police posts along the Bravo line. Let me point out that there are no military police posts inside the demilitarized zone. We deploy posts along the line," Kuralenko said.
"At the moment four Russian military police posts are in place. Another two will be deployed in the near future. There will be six of them all in all. Eventually we may increase the total number to eight, if need be," he stated.
Russian military personnel provides all-round assistance to the United Nations mission to ensure the UN flag should fly at all posts and the mission carry out full-scale work in the demilitarized zone.
In four northern districts there are three or four roots where patrolling has never stopped.
"The task of the UNDOF (United Nations Disengagement Observer Force) is to expand patrolling, to be more precise, to restore patrolling in the central and southern zones. We see our duty in helping them with this," Kuralenko said.
As soon as order has been restored, the military police will hand the posts over to the Syrians.
