Russia leads in two competitions after day 1 of International Army Games
The 4th International Army Games are being held on 24 training grounds in seven countries in a period from July 28 through August 11
ALABINO /Moscow region/, July 29. /TASS/. Russia leads in the Safe Environment and Elbrus Ring competitions after the first day of the International Army Games 2018, Major General Alexander Peryazev, the tournament’s chief judge, said on Sunday.
"First competitions of the Safe Environment contest were held at the Pesochnoye range in the Yaroslval region. The leader is the Russian team (25 minutes and 40 seconds). The Belarusian crew finished second (26 minutes and 57 seconds), and the Chinese team was third (29 minutes and seven seconds)," the Game’s press center said.
The Russian team was the first in the Elbrus Ring competition. According to Peryazev, competitions in such disciplines as climbing and navigation on mountainous terrain have already finished. "Russian military climbers scored 1,765 points, or by 47 points more than last year. Second is the Chinese team with 1,387 points, and Kazakhstan is the third with 1,308 points," he said.
Crews from Kuwait, China, Kazakhstan, Uganda, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Azerbaijan and India ran their laps on the first day of Tank Biathlon competitions. China’s team finished first. It is followed by Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
The Safe Environment competition involves radiation, chemical and biological reconnaissance troops. It is held at the Pesochnoye training center in Kostroma and the Yaroslavl region in central European Russia. Participants are crews from Armenia, Belarus, Egypt, Iran, China and Russia. The final stage of the competition is the ascent of the Elbrus mountain on foot with standard weapon.
The Elbrus Ring contest involves mountain troops. It is held at the Terskol mountain climbing and survival training center in the Elbrus district of the North Caucasian republic of Kabardino-Balkaria. Participants are teams from Iran, India, Kazakhstan, China, Russia and Uzbekistan.
The 4th International Army Games are being held on 24 training grounds in seven countries in a period from July 28 through August 11. Taking part are 189 teams from 32 world nations. The program includes competitions in 28 disciplines.
