Russia’s Pacific Fleet to get cutting-edge corvette
The Gromky is the second Project 20380 corvette built specially for the Pacific Fleet under the rearmament program
KOMSOMOLSK-ON-AMUR, June 30. /TASS/. Russia’s Pacific Fleet will get the advanced Project 20380 corvette Gromky soon, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko said on Saturday.
"We hope that during the month one corvette will get to the delivery base in Vladivostok for acceptance," Krivoruchko told reporters.
The Gromky is the second Project 20380 corvette built specially for the Pacific Fleet under the rearmament program.
Project 20380 warships are green-water multirole corvettes developed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau (St. Petersburg) and designed to fight enemy surface ships and submarines, provide artillery support for marines in amphibious assault operations by way of delivering missile and artillery strikes against combat ships and vessels at sea and at naval bases and to carry out patrols in their area of responsibility for the purpose of sea blockade.
The corvette measures 104.5 meters in length and 13 meters in width and displaces 2,200 tonnes. The warship develops a speed of up to 27 knots (about 50 km/h) and has an operational range of 3,500 nautical miles (about 6,400 km). The corvette can carry a Kamov Ka-27 helicopter.
