Russian Black Sea Fleet frigate heading home after Mediterranean mission
Maintenance work will be carried out aboard the warship upon its arrival while its crew will get a rest
MOSCOW, June 28. /TASS/. The Black Sea Fleet frigate Admiral Essen has accomplished missions as part of Russia’s permanent Mediterranean taskforce and has set off for its home base in Sevastopol, the Fleet’s press office reported on Thursday.
"The warship is currently passing through the Dardanelles and the Bosphorus straits, heading for the Black Sea," the press office said.
The frigate is expected to arrive in Sevastopol at the weekend. Maintenance work will be carried out aboard the warship upon its arrival while its crew will get a rest.
The frigate Admiral Essen was performing missions as part of Russia’s permanent Mediterranean taskforce from March. Over the period of its operation in distant waters, the crew held drills to practice a battle on its own and as part of a naval taskforce with the performance of artillery fire against surface and air targets, and also anti-submarine warfare.
