Russian Defense Ministry posts video on monitoring nuclear weapon testing for first time
Among other high-priority tasks of the Special Control Service is monitoring the seismic and radiation situation on the globe and any nuclear accidents in Russia
MOSCOW, May 14. /TASS/. The Russian Defense Ministry has posted a video about the work of its Special Control Service, which marks its 60th anniversary in May, on its official accounts in social networks for the first time ever, the ministry reported on Monday.
"In addition to monitoring nuclear weapon testing abroad, the Russian Defense Ministry’s Special Control Service monitors compliance with international treaties on the limitation and prohibition of nuclear weapon tests, in particular, it ensures Russia’s involvement in the international mechanism to monitor [compliance with] the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) and coordinate activities of the federal executive power bodies and the Russian Academy of Sciences to implement the CTBT," the ministry said.
Among other high-priority tasks of the Special Control Service is monitoring the seismic and radiation situation on the globe and any nuclear accidents in Russia (within the technical capabilities of monitoring facilities) . It is also involved in geophysical monitoring over the territory of our country.
