Almost 600 civilians have returned to their homes in Syria over the past day, the Russian Defense Ministry reports
MOSCOW, April 17. /TASS/. Almost 600 civilians have returned to their homes in Syria over the past day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday.
"Over the past day 580 civilians have returned to Eastern Ghouta, and a total of 59,583 people since the launch of the humanitarian operation," the ministry informed.
The Defense Ministry noted that joint work of the units of the Russian military police and law enforcement authorities of the Syrian Arab Republic was organized to support the public order, provide help and security for civilians and prevent provocations. In addition, representatives from the Reconciliation Center met with the governor of the Damascus Governorate to discuss the restoration of destroyed infrastructure in Eastern Ghouta cities and provide help to local civilians.
"Construction equipment delivered by the Russian side is being used to clear the debris to restore traffic in the city of Douma in Eastern Ghouta. Repair crews are restoring water and power supply in the city," the ministry added.
