MOSCOW, October 24 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a resolution to relieve Oleg Frolov from the post of first deputy head of the Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) on Thursday.

“To relieve Oleg Petrovich Frolov from the post of the first deputy head of the Federal Space Agency on his own volition,” the document posted at the official website of the Russian government said.

On October 10, the prime minister appointed Oleg Ostapenko as new Roscosmos head. Ostapenko replaced Vladimir Popovkin at the post. Former AvtoVAZ CEO Igor Komarov was appointed as deputy head of the agency on Wednesday.

A large-scale reform is in full swing in Roscosmos. At a meeting in Novo-Ogarevo, Moscow Region, on October 9 Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin informed President Vladimir Putin about the plan to reform the space industry that envisages the creation of a united aerospace corporation on the premises of the Scientific Research Institute of Space Instrument Engineering. Meanwhile, the agency retained science, infrastructure and the functions of systemic integrator and state contractor of the programmes. The president approved the plan.
