THE HAGUE, January 28 (Itar-Tass) – Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands has abdicated the throne in favour of her eldest son, Crown Prince Willem-Alexander.

The queen announced her decision in a televised address.

Prince Willem-Alexander will be enthroned on April 30.
