MOSCOW, December 3 (Itar-Tass) — A criminal case against ex-chief of Moscow Metro, Dmitry Gayev, was closed in the absence of the corpus delicti, his lawyer Alexander Asnis told Itar-Tass on Monday.

In March 2011 the Russian Investigative Committee instituted a criminal case against Gayev on charges of abuse of power. He was suspected of embezzling 112 million roubles ($4 million) in public funds through illegal patenting the electronic metro tickets that replaced tokens.

After he received investigators’ permission in March 2012 Gayev left Russia for undergoing treatment in a European clinic. On October 28 the former chief of Moscow Metro died.
