Moscow police detain 2 colleagues who planned robbery of money collectors

They have been planning the crime for the past two weeks

MOSCOW, November 20 (Itar-Tass) — Agents of the Interior Ministry's internal security department detained two police officers who had planned an armed attack on money collectors. The detainees are from a special task force center, city police press service told Itar-Tass.

"The detention was possible thanks to immediate information," the press service reported.

"As a result of search and operation measures, internal security police, jointly with detectives of the Moscow criminal police department, prevented a crime. On Monday night, two special task force officers were detained on suspicion of planning a crime, a Captain and a private," it added.

They have been planning the crime for the past two weeks.

A non-lethal pistol was seized from one of the suspects during a search, while a search of the second suspect yielded several grams of marijuana. The materials on the officers will be handed over to investigative bodies for making a procedural decision.

A service check has been launched. According to preliminary results, the special task force Captain and Private will be fired. The deputy commander for work with personnel of the special task force police unit, and deputy company commander of Battalion 4 will be relieved of their duties.

Several other special task force officers have been severely reprimanded.
