Fire at warehouse with flammable materials in Abakan extinguished

Fire-fighters have reduced the area ablaze to 50 square metres and prevented an explosion of the flammable materials

KRASNOYARSK, October 26 (Itar-Tass) — The fire at a warehouse with flammable materials – matches and lighters -- in Abakan, Khakassia, has been extinguished.

No casualties have been reported.

The fire started at 08:12 local time (04:12 Moscow time) in a warehouse where matches and lighters are stored in an area of 750 square metres.

Fire-fighters have reduced the area ablaze to 50 square metres and prevented an explosion of the flammable materials kept in the warehouse.

Twenty-four fire-fighters and six water trucks were involved in the operation to extinguish the fire that is believed to have been caused to as short circuit.

The investigation is underway.
