3 persons killed in traffic accident caused by police officer in Moscow region

Hospitalized driver said he was an investigator with a police department in the Tver region and lost consciousness

MOSCOW, October 22 (Itar-Tass) —— Three persons were killed in a road accident involving three cars in the Moscow region. According to preliminary data, one of the cars was driven by a police officer from the city of Tver, a spokesman for the Russian Interior Ministry said on Monday.

“The accident took place at about 09:00 a.m. Moscow time on Monday at the 93rd kilometer of the Leningradskoye highway. The driver of an Audi 80 car lost control of the vehicle and went onto the ongoing lane to ram a Renault Logan car. Later, both cars ran into a Mercedes truck,” the spokesman said.

As a result, two persons who were in the Renault Logan car and an Audi passenger died instantly. The Audi driver was hospitalized in a grave condition. “At hospital, he said he was an investigator with a police department in the Tver region and lost consciousness. If this information is verified, a police check will be initiated,” the spokesman added.
