Short track -- Grigoryev of Russia sets world record in 500-m race

Grigoryev's result of 40.344 sec in the preliminary race was 0.307 sec better than the previous world record of South Korea's Si-Bak Sung

OTTAWA, October 20 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian Vladimir Grigoryev set a world record in the 500-m short track race in Calgary, Canada, at the World Cup starting stage.

Grigoryev's result of 40.344 sec in the preliminary race was 0.307 sec better than the previous world record of South Korea's Si-Bak Sung. The Russian sportsman will participate in the quarterfinals.
