These figures are quite comparable with the expenditures Russia spends on the army, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev stressed

MOSCOW, October 11 (Itar-Tass) — A total of four trillion roubles are planned to be allocated to education from the federal budget until the year 2020, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev told the government at its meeting on Thursday.

Annual budgetary contributions to education will grow from 446 billion roubles in 2013 to 631 billion roubles in 2020, the prime minister said.

The consolidated budgetary expenditures are expected to make up around eight trillion roubles for a period until 2015, and more than 20 trillion roubles in 2016-2020, the prime minister said. These figures are quite comparable with the expenditures Russia spends on the army, Medvedev stressed.

Medvedev thinks it is principally important that schools should provide education in a competitive environment and help elicit schoolchildren's talents and their creative potential.
