"The personnel’s safety is a priority for us," Serdyukov said
MOSCOW, September 21 (Itar-Tass) — The Russian army needs more than 3,000 armored vehicles Rys (Lynx), Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov told the media on Friday.
“The real demand is far more than 3,000 Lynx vehicles. The personnel’s safety is a priority for us. In three years to come we are to localize the production of Lynx vehicles 70 percent. That’s already very far from knock-down assembly,” Serdyukov said.
He said an agreement had been concluded with the Motovilikha Plants corporation for the supply of 36 multiple rocket launchers Tornado-G.
“We have signed a contract for 36 Tornado-Gs this year. At this point there are no plans for more,” Serdyukov said.
