ST PETERSBURG, September 6 (Itar-Tass) — Rector of St Petersburg State University of Service and Economics Alexander Viktorov died in an assassination attempt in the town of Vsevolzhsk, Leningrad region, on Wednesday evening, city police told Itar-Tass.

"Viktorov died of gunshot wounds," a police official said.
