MOSCOW, August 26 (Itar-Tass) —— The police shot a wrongdoer driving towards Moscow on Sunday.

“The driver ignored red lights and refused to stop by the police demand in the suburban town of Domodedovo at approximately 4:00 a.m. on Sunday. The police went on a chase,” the Russian Investigation Committee told Itar-Tass.

Once the car entered the Moscow city limits, the police detail fired several shots into the air to warn the disobedient driver to stop. The driver caught a bullet and died. “He was identified as a citizen of Uzbekistan born in 1983,” the committee said.

The Moscow city department of the Russian Investigation Committee is holding a preliminary investigation of the incident. It will verify, in particular, the legality of the police detail’s use of firearms.
