KOSTROMA, April 28 (Itar-Tass) —— The Kostroma regional legislature vested Sergei Sitnikov with powers of governor at its extraordinary meeting on Saturday. The deputies, who attended the regional parliamentary meeting, voted unanimously for a candidate, which the Russian president nominated for governorship on April 25.

Governor Igor Slyunyaev, who had headed the region since 2007, filed resignation on his own volition on April 13.
