Case of bribery opened against RF Interior K Directorate officer

The police officer has been taken into custody at the request of the investigation

MOSCOW, April 24 (Itar-Tass) — Criminal proceedings have been instituted in Moscow against an officer of the K Directorate of the Russian Interior Ministry who extorted a bribe of 100 thousand euro for stopping an inspection of a businessman’s company.

The Russian Investigative Committee (SK) reported on Tuesday that the SK main department for Moscow opened a criminal case under Article 290, part 6 of the RF Criminal Code (bribe taking) and Article 283, part 1 of the RF Criminal Code (disclosure of a state secret) against police Major Andrei Yurov. He is special operative of the department for the fight against illegal access to computer information of the 38th division of the K Directorate (that deals with cyber crimes) of the special technical measures bureau.

“According to an investigation version, the police operative took from the businessman a bribe of 100 thousand euro for the termination of a probe against him and the further investigative actions,” the SK department said.

The police officer has been taken into custody at the request of the investigation.
