MOSCOW, March 12 (Itar-Tass) — Investigative authorities have launched an inquiry into the circumstances of the death of a man taken to hospital from a police station.

A criminal case is opened over the fact on charges of "intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in death" and "power abuse with the use of arms or special equipment", a regional law enforcement source told Itar-Tass by telephone

The source said that Sergei Nazarov, born in 1959, died in Hospital 18 in Kazan late on Sunday. He had injuries of internal organs when he was taken to the hospital from the Dalny police station. He was detained on suspicion of theft. He was held in a cell.
