Gazprom asks international tribunal to protect its investments in Lithuania

It filed a suit against the Lithuanian government

MOSCOW, March 1 (Itar-Tass) —— Gazprom on Thursday had to ask an international court of arbitration to protect its investments in Lithuania. It filed a suit against the Lithuanian government.

As follows from Gazprom’s news release, “a statement to that effect was made by the company’s representative at a meeting of the Lietuvos Dujos company’s board, when the issue of splitting Lietuvos Dujos in compliance with Lithuania’s gas legislation was put to the vote.”

Gazprom stated with regret that the agreements achieved on February 27, 2012 in the course of working meeting with representatives of the Lithuanian government and the European Commission failed to be met.
