Syria will hold a referendum for a new constitution on February 26
BEIRUT, February 15 (Itar-Tass) —— Syria will hold a referendum for a new constitution on February 26, Reuters reported with reference to the Syrian state television on Wednesday.
Syria will hold a referendum on a new constitution on February 26. Syrian President Bashar Assad signed a relevant decree on Wednesday.
The Syrian leader stated earlier that a new fundamental law of the republic will fix the ongoing reforms in the legislation and will make it possible “to pass to a new stage, which meets people’s expectations and opens bright prospects for future generations.”
The Syrian authorities also stated that after a constitutional referendum on February 26 general elections will be held on the multiparty basis in late May.
