Udmurtia needs additional 2 billion roubles to restore houses damaged by depot explosion

As of February 14, as many as 197 houses hit by the explosion and subsequent fire have been repaired

IZHEVSK, February 15 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s republic of Udmurtia needs additional two billion roubles to restore houses damaged by the accident at a munitions depot in the settlement of Pugachyovo last summer, the republic’s government official said on Wednesday.

Under the current contract there is a deficit of 500-500 million roubles, said Rustam Khabibullin, the first deputy minister of construction, architecture and housing policy of Udmurtia. Moreover, money is needed to pay outstanding financial aid to residents and to finish the construction of infrastructure facilities.

As of February 14, as many as 197 houses hit by the explosion and subsequent fire have been repaired, including 176 houses in the settlement of Malaya Purga, eleven houses in the settlement of Kurchum-norye, four – in Kuchumsky, one – in Abdulmenevo, five – in Yagan. Repairs works at 313 houses have not yet been completed, the minister said.

On February 6, Russian Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu visited the accident affected area to inspect the pace of restoration works. According to Shoigu, about 95 percent of the damaged facilities and houses were  repaired, the rest are to be repaired soon. Udmurtia’s president pledged all works would be over within a month.
