The Russian Central Election Commission hopes that web cameras at polling stations during the upcoming presidential election in March won’t be used for grimacing or hooliganism

MOSCOW, February 13 (Itar-Tass) —— The Russian Central Election Commission hopes that web cameras at polling stations during the upcoming presidential election in March won’t be used for grimacing or hooliganism.

CEC Secretary Nikolai Konkin said that the question of punishment for such acts was not being considered. “If there are no violations of law and election legislation, no measures will be used,” he said on Monday, February 13.

Konkin did not rule out that if the law is broken, the CEC would act in accordance with the Civil and Criminal Codes.

However he believes that the probability of such acts is not very high. “I do hope that our voters and representatives of the candidates are law-abiding citizens,” he said.

“I hope everything will go calmly,” he added.

The presidential election is slated for March 4.
