The LAS peacekeeping mission and the United Nations will be able to work in Syria if an agreement on ceasefire is reached
MOSCOW, February 13 (Itar-Tass) — The LAS peacekeeping mission and the United Nations will be able to work in Syria if an agreement on ceasefire is reached, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday.
“At first it is necessary to ensure peace in Syria before the LAS deploys peacekeepers,” Lavrov said. “An agreement on ceasefire is indispensable,” he added.
“The problem is that the armed groups, which are acting against the Syrian leadership, are subordinate to nobody,” the Russian minister stressed.
