KRASNODAR, February 9 (Itar-Tass) —— The Novorossiysk sea trade port resumed its routine operation. The port’s work was suspended because of a strong hurricane.

“All enterprises of the Group of the Novorossiysk sea trade port resumed loading and unloading operations as of  08:00 Moscow time,” the press service of the Novorossiysk authorities told Itar-Tass on Thursday. “The mooring and ship handling resumed at the berths,” the deputy general director for sales and marketing of the Novorossiysk sea trade port Rado Antolovich confirmed.

“The winds were getting stronger in Novorossiysk on February 6 and reached 54.8 meters per second in the port harbor and with air temperatures dropping to 21 degrees below zero in the afternoon of February 7 that became a new record of the last ten years,” he recalled. The port’s work was suspended. The storm lasted until Wednesday morning, February 8. The management of the companies and the engineering personnel worked on high duty in the last few days.

No major incidents took place at the port during the storm. Neither the people were injured, nor the machinery was damaged in the storm. The city's electric power grid was partially damaged as a result additional ectric power capacities were used. Electric power and heating supplies to the vital facilities of the port were not disrupted.

The winds subsided and the port resumed its operation in the morning of February 9.
