YEREVAN, January 30 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia plays an active role in the process of settling Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, with the full support of the other two co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group, Armenian Foreign Minister Edvard Nalbandyan said.
“The Russian side has been playing an active role in the settlement process lately, with the full support of the other two co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group – the United States and France,” Nalbandyan said in an interview with Armenia’s leading television channels.
The text of the interview was released by the Foreign Ministry press service on Monday, January 30.
“Russia’s efforts and the efforts of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev have met the full support of the United States and France” as was “publicly announced after the G-8 meeting in Deauville [France]”, the minister said.
“Owing to the initiative of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, ten meetings between the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan have taken place,” he recalled.
In his opinion, “This format has proved viable and effective, which was evident at the latest meeting in Sochi”.
The minister believes that “the format of meetings at the level of presidents will continue”.
The latest meeting between the presidents of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan in Sochi was “important and fruitful”, which was reflected, among other things, in the joint statement of the three leaders, the diplomat said.
