MURMANSK, January 27 (Itar-Tass) —— The world’s most powerful nuclear-powered icebreaker, The 50th Victory Anniversary, departed from Murmansk for the Baltic Sea on Friday. It will spend 100 days leading convoys through the icebound Gulf of Finland, the Murmansk-based Atomflot Company of the Rosatom state corporation told Itar-Tass on Friday.

The Northern Sea Route is also icebound, and the Rossiya nuclear-powered icebreaker is operating on the Murmansk-Dudinka line.

The Taimyr icebreaker will work in the Yenisei Gulf to assist cargo traffic to Norilsk and along the Yenisei River.

The icebreakers make practically all-year the shipping season in the western Arctic sector.
