GORNO-ALTAISK, December 31 (Itar-Tass) — The Kyzyl heat and power station is included in the list of projects that are inspected above all by experts of the All-Russian Research Institute of the Ministry for Emergencies who arrived in the republic.

It is necessary to have a full picture to what extent the plant was damaged by the strong earthquake on December 27 to preclude the slightest glitches in the operation of this facility, strategically important for the Tuva capital. This idea was expressed by republican head Sholban Kara-ool in Kyzyl at a meeting with executive manager of the Yenisei TGC company and member of the board of the Kyzyl TETS company Yevgeny Zhadovets, Itar-Tass learnt at the press service of the Tuva government.

According to the press service, the meeting discussed the state of the enterprise after the quake and during peak winter loads as well as prospects for the station’s development.

As a result of the quake, specialists spotted cracks in panel seams of buildings of the plant built in 1958 and in the brickwork of the turbine shop. The enterprise works according to the schedule; however, taking into account the importance of the station for the city, a decision was made to inspect it thoroughly.

According to the republican head, the station needs modernization. Zhadovets confirmed readiness of the TGC company to participate actively in removing aftermaths of the earthquake. He assured that plans would be drafted in the near future. A posscbility is mulled over to carry out the examination of buildings and installations at the earliest with involvement of a special organization.

According to Zhadovets, spotted cracks do not entail serious consequences and will not interfere with the heating season. This notwithstanding, a regime of higher control over the state of equipment was introduced at the facility, and it will last till January 10.
