MOSCOW, December 15 (Itar-Tass) — Vladimir Putin has played down an incident during a wrestling competition at the Olympics center in Moscow, saying people were tired to see his face which is too much in the limelight.

During a question and answer session Putin was asked about an incident at the Olympics Center, when the audiences whistled during a wrestling event after the prime minister rose to the ring.

"When I began to speak I could hear some noise in one of the sectors, but I heard no whistling, " Putin said, adding he completed his speech to a storm of applause.

Putin believes there might have been several reasons behind the incident. One of them is that his face is too much in the limelight, too much on screens. After the people saw my face on the ring as well it aroused a little discontent, Putin said. «I think it was absolutely normal. I was not offended by those who made some noise," Putin said.

Another reason is that Monson, the rival of Russian wrestler Fedor Yemelyanenko, was passing by at the moment, and a third reason is that the audiences might have been dissatisfied with the fight, thinking the result was falsified, Putin explained. Nonetheless, he categorically rejected a possibility of any falsification, saying the Russian wrestler, Fedor Yemelyanenko, demonstrated very correct wrestling tactics.
