MOSCOW, October 20 (Itar-Tass) — The Su-24 frontline bomber crashed in the Amur region probably due to the human factor - namely, an error in piloting, a source in the Russian Defence Ministry told Itar-Tass.

Russian Air Force spokesman Col. Vladimir Drik told the news agency that the Su-24 overturned and caught fire on the runway of the Ukrainka refuelling airfield as a result of a hard landing. “Before flying from Voronezh to the Vozdvizhenka Aircraft Repair Plant, the Su-24 was in a good working condition,” the official stressed.

“The plane flew to the plant to undergo scheduled maintenance,” Drik said.

The crew of two pilots was killed in the accident.
