Russian agency to restrict supply of French meat, dairy products

MOSCOW, September 27 (Itar-Tass) — Russia's Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance) will restrict supplies to the markets of the Customs Union members from nine meat - and three dairy farms in France, following a selective check of 19 French agribusinesses.

The check was carried out from June 26 through July 9, 2011, upon coordination with the veterinary services of Belarus and Kazakhstan.

"By the results of the analysis of the materials obtained in the course of the inspection, the right to continue supplies was confirmed for seven of the monitored companies - five dairy farms and two meat-processing businesses," the Russian agency said in a statement.

As regards another 12 companies, the federal service introduces, from October 10, 2011, restrictions on the supply of their products to the market of the Customs Union members "in connection with exposed violations of veterinary-sanitary requirements and norms."

Rosselkhoznadzor added that a letter had been forwarded to France's Veterinary Service with the request to conduct a service check into the detected violations.
