MOSCOW, September 26 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s high-speed train Sapsan has carried its four millionth passenger.

This was Alexander Karabanov, a businessman from St. Petersburg, who bought a ticket for a Sapsan train that ran to Moscow on Sunday.

“A passenger received a personalized certificate confirming his status and a gift from the Russian Railways Company,” a RZD official told Itar-Tass on Monday.

The official noted that the businessman regularly uses Sapsan trains and this year alone he has already made over 30 train trips.

The Sapsan high-speed trains have been running since December 2009, when a train en route Moscow-St. Petersburg made its first commercial run.

Six months later the high-speed train movement to Nizhny Novgorod was opened linking the capital of the Volga region with St. Petersburg and Moscow.
