Tikhonov was sentenced to life imprisonment and Khasis to 18 years in prison
MOSCOW, September 14 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s Supreme Court has left standing the verdict against Nikita Tikhonov and Yevgeniya Khasis convicted for killing human rights activist, lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova.
“The verdict of the Moscow city court against Tikhonov and Khasis remains unchanged and the cassation appeal is rejected,” Judge Alexei Shurygin said.
Tikhonov was sentenced to life imprisonment and Khasis to 18 years in prison.
The verdict enters into force on Wednesday.
