Russia sends Be-200 to Serbia to fight wildfires

The ministry did not specify in what fire-fighting operation the plane will be engaged

MOSCOW, August 30 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s Emergencies Ministry has sent a Be-200 amphibious plane to Serbia to fight wildfires.

“At 12:00 Moscow time the plane lifted off from the airfield in Ramenskoye near Moscow en route to Serbia,” the Emergencies Ministry’s information department told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

It landed at the airport in the city of Nis.

The ministry did not specify in what fire-fighting operation the plane will be engaged.

Russia has been repeatedly helping Serbia to fight wildfires. Several years ago planes of Russia’s Emergencies Ministry fought fires in Nis, southern Serbia.
