Syria to celebrate downing of US missiles on April 14, says Syrian PM

The US, the UK and France said the strikes were in response to an alleged chemical weapons attack in Douma, a suburb of Syria’s capital

DAMASCUS, April 14. /TASS/. Syria will be celebrating on Saturday the fact that most of the US-led missiles launched against the country have been shot down, Prime Minister Imad Khamis said at a meeting with the Russian parliamentary delegation.

"You will see with your own eyes how Syria will be celebrating nationwide the response to the attack," said Dmitry Sablin, the coordinator of the Russian State Duma (lower house of parliament) group responsible for ties with Syria, quoting the Syrian prime minister during the closed meeting on Saturday.

US-led Western attack on Syria

According to the Russian Defense Ministry’s data, the missile strike against Syria’s military and civilian infrastructures was carried out by US warplanes and naval ships in cooperation with the British and French air forces between 03:42 and 05:10 Moscow time on Saturday.

As the Russian Defense Ministry reported, the Syrian air defenses shot down 71 out of 103 missiles fired by the United States and its allies.
