Presidential palace, government compound in Damascus unscathed by coalition’s strike

The Pentagon said the operation lasted for about 50 minutes

DAMASCUS, April 14. /TASS/. The government compound Abu Rummaneh in Syria’s capital Damascus and the presidential palace were not hit by the US-led coalition’s air and missile strike in the small hours of Saturday. TASS correspondent reports from the scene the situation in the area is calm and traffic is unaffected.

A spontaneous rally in support of President Bashar Assad and the Syrian army is gathering in the center of Damascus.

At 04:00 local time (coincides with Moscow time) the United States, Britain and France began missile strikes against Syria after saying they were doing so in retaliation for an alleged chemical weapons attack in Douma. According to some sources, ten or so targets were attacked. There has been no confirmation from the Syrian news agency SANA.

The Pentagon said the operation lasted for about 50 minutes.
