EASA confirms to TASS that it made recommendations to airlines on possible Syria strikes

US President Donald Trump stated on Monday that he would make a decision within 24-48 hours on whether to use military force against Syria’s authorities

BERLIN, April 11. /TASS/. The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has confirmed that it made recommendations to airline companies on a possible military action in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea.

"We informed EASA member states and Eurocontrol Nework Manager yesterday that due to the possible launch of airstrikes into Syria with air-to-ground and / or cruise missiles within the next 72 hours as of yesterday, and the possibility of intermittent disruption of radio navigation equipment, due consideration needs to be taken when planning flight operations in the Eastern Mediterranean / Nicosia Flight Information Region area," EASA told TASS on Wednesday.

A source in a Russian aircraft company told TASS about this warning earlier. A United States Navy strike group consisting of the Harry Truman nuclear-powered aircraft carrier and its support ships - a guided missile cruiser and four destroyers - will set off on Wednesday from Norfolk, Virginia, for to patrol the Middle East area, the US Navy representatives reported. A German warship will join them at the first stage.

The strike group’s deployment is being carried out amid escalated tensions in Syria triggered by statements on the use of chemical weapons in the Syrian city of Douma this past Saturday. US President Donald Trump stated on Monday that he would make a decision within 24 - 48 hours on whether to use military force against Syria’s authorities in light of this.
