Kurds have right to take part in Syria’s political process — Putin

"We are convinced that the Kurds are part of Syria’s multiethnic people and have the right to take part in all political processes," Putin said

ANKARA, April 3. /TASS/. As part of Syria’s multiethnic people, the Kurds have the right to take part in all political processes concerning the future state system in that country, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday after talks with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in Ankara.

"As for the future system and the current political dialogue, we are convinced that the Kurds are part of Syria’s multiethnic people and have the right to take part in all political processes, to find their place in future Syria. Naturally, we are convinced that any such processes should continue with maximum coordination between all the parties concerned. Otherwise, there will be no ultimate result," Putin stressed.

He noted that it was up to the Syrian people to decide "who should take part in the negotiating process and what will be a place for each nation in future Syria."

According to the Russia leader, Russian is cooperating with Syria and other countries concerned to settle the crisis in that country "first of all, to ensure Syria’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and to exterminate terrorism in its territory."

"We have been cooperating with Turkey in that area and will continue to do so," he stressed.
