Kiev court leaves Savchenko in custody citing totality of offenses committed

The court ruled eventually that she should stay in custody "proceeding from the totality of charges under seven articles invoked against her"

KIEV, March 23. /TASS/. A court in Kiev has left the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, Nadiya [Nadezhda] Savchenko in custody through to May 28, 2018, citing the totality of offenses aportioned to her.

As the presiding judge read out the final judgment, he first stated the absence of evidence that Savchenko was committing an attempt at the state coup and terrorist acts the authorities charged her with later.

"In the light of it, the court finds it necessary to free her in the courtroom," the judge said.

However, the court ruled eventually that she should stay in custody "proceeding from the totality of charges under seven articles invoked against her," he said.
