Iranian top diplomat to take part in Moscow meeting of Caspian states’ foreign ministers

The Iranian top diplomat will be accompanied by a delegation of experts in political, legal and border issues

MOSCOW, December 3. /TASS/. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will take part in a meeting of foreign ministers of the Caspian littoral states, namely Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, due to be held in Moscow on December 4-5, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said on Sunday.

According to Ghasemi, the Iranian top diplomat will be accompanied by a delegation of experts in political, legal and border issues.

The five Caspian littoral nations continue to agree details of a convention of the Caspian Sea’s legal status. It is planned to refer this convention to the heads of state at their nest summit meeting. Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that Moscow hoped that such summit would be organized in 2018. Later, Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin said the summit could be held at the beginning of the next year.
