ASTRAKHAN, April 6. /TASS/. Three Russian Guard officers were wounded by unidentified attackers in Russia’s southern city of Astrakhan. One of the attackers was killed, a spokesman for the Astrakhan region department of the Russian interior ministry told TASS on Thursday.

"The Russian Guard officers came under gunfire when they tried to stop a car to check documents. Three officers were wounded, they were taken to hospital. One of them is in severe condition. The attackers fled the scene," the spokesman said, adding that one of the attackers was killed by response fire. His identity is being established.

According to earlier reports, on April 4, unidentified armed men attacked two traffic police officers who arrived at a road accident scene in Astrakhan. They made several shots at the policemen who died instantly. Four men suspected of this attack have been put on the Russian and international wanted lists.
