MOSCOW, March 20. /TASS/. American billionaire David Rockefeller died at the age of 101 at his home in Pocantico Hills, New York. His death was confirmed by a family spokesman Fraser Seitel.
"Yes, Mr. Rockefeller passed away in his sleep this morning at his home in Pocantico Hills, New York. The cause was congestive heart failure," Seitel said in e-mailed comments to TASS.
Rockefeller was born on June 12, 1915 in New York. He earned a degree from Harvard University in 1936 and went on to study at the University of Chicago. In 1946 he joined Chase Manhattan Bank and fifteen years later became the bank’s president.
The billionaire retired in 1981 and devoted himself to philanthropy. According to various estimates, he donated hundreds of millions of dollars to charitable causes.
