Syrian opposition’s Moscow group confirms participation in Geneva talks

The Moscow group plans to hold consultations with other opposition representatives in Geneva on the possible creation of a single delegation

MOSCOW, March 20. /TASS/. The Syrian opposition’s Moscow group will arrive in Switzerland to take part in the fifth round of intra-Syrian talks on March 22, chairman of the group Qadri Jamil told TASS.

"Of course, the Moscow group will take part in the Geneva talks," Jamil said. "The delegation is arriving on Wednesday."

Like during the previous round, the delegation will consist of three negotiators and two advisers, Jamil said. UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura has rejected the proposal to expand the delegation, he added.

The Moscow group plans to hold consultations with other opposition representatives in Geneva on the possible creation of a single delegation, he said. "The proposal to gather for all three groups (Moscow, Cairo and Riyadh) to discuss this remains in force."

The next round of the intra-Syrian talks in Geneva will begin on March 23. The delegations will gather in Switzerland a day earlier. The sides will discuss creation of the government, the timeframe for drafting constitution, elections and fight against terrorism.
