Pilot of Syrian plane that crashed near border with Turkey found - Daily Sabah

MOSCOW, March 5. /TASS/. The Turkish rescue team has found the wounded pilot of Syrian air force plane that crashed earlier in Turkey's southern Hatay province, the Daily Sabah reported Sunday.

The pilot was taken to hospital, NTV television channel said.

On March 4, it was reported that a Mig-23 fighter jet of the Syrian Air Force crashed in the area bordering Turkey. According to Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, the plane was supposed to be a Mig-23 of the Syrian air force, while the pilot was believed to have bailed out.

Governor of Hatay province Erdal Ata said he had received reports claiming a plane crash near the village of Yaylacik in central Antakya. The aircraft reportedly had been shot down by a Syrian opposition group in Turkey's Hatay province, Ata said, confirming no Turkish Armed Forces nor civil aviation flight was scheduled in the area. According to a senior Turkish military official, there was only one pilot on board and he is thought to be ejected from the plane while on Syrian land, the Daily Sabah said.
